S.P.I.K.E. Performance Camps

(Success = Positive Imagery & Kinetic Energy)

S.P.I.K.E. Performance Camps is one of the top girls summer volleyball camps in the Midwest, attracting campers from across the country. They are physically demanding and mentally challenging, with appropriate adjustments for skill level. (Which is why they tend to fill up fast.)

Hey. I am a mom not a player, but I hung around the gym a lot and I am a 14U coach. The camp was fabulous.  I mean it. My daughter attends 10 camps or clinics a summer and has been to most in the Midwest and S.P.I.K.E. made the top 3 list of 35. I overheard some whiney types complain about how little down time they got and that they were sore...well, maybe next time they will follow the conditioning program! Down time is for home and not for when you have a great facility and several fab coaches available for your learning pleasure!

Jodi Zimmerman, Illinois

We have training sessions for college-bound players, intermediate players, and developing players. We can also do custom Team Camps and our fast-paced and fun S.P.I.K.E.™ Workshop (team psychological training) at your facility.

Learn from some of the top volleyball coaches in the country.

We brought in 39 top volleyball instructors from 10 states in 2009 to provide the excellent training for which our camps are noted. In that group, there were:

  • 9 collegiate head coaches
  • 10 collegiate assistant coaches
  • 3 former professional players

Coaches from the following schools have worked our camps:

Concordia University-St. Paul

Minnesota State University-Mankato

Excellent player-to-coach ratio.

Typically in our camps, each court has a collegiate head or assistant coach as the Court Head Coach and a veteran collegiate player or high school varsity coach as a Court Assistant Coach. Our standard camper-to-coach ratio is an outstanding 7 to 1 on each court.  In addition, we also have a Camp Lead Coach and a roving coach to lead or assist as needed.

Congratulations!

To the following S.P.I.K.E. Performance Camps coaches:

Jason Skoch, first year head coach position at West Texas A&M University (formerly head coach of national power Truman State University) for coaching his team to the 2009 NCAA DII national championship match (runnerup finish).

Ben Briney, first year head coach at Truman State University (former assistant) for coaching his team to the NCAA DII playoffs. (He had the unfortunate first round draw of playing the NCAA 2nd place finisher.) Also of note, Megan Sharpe, a middle blocker on Ben's team was named the DII National Freshman of the Year.

Jessica Rinehart for accepting the head coach position at Northwest Missouri State University. Jessica was the head coach at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN.

Danielle Zimmerman for accepting the assistant coach position at Concordia University Nebraska-Seward. Danielle is a long-time S.P.I.K.E. coach who played for and was graduated from Minnesta State University-Mankato in 2009.

Campers attend from around the world!

We are pleased to have had campers from throughout the United States and Canada, plus: Waterloo, Denmark; Tokyo, Japan; Shibuya, Japan. Flying in or driving a distance?  Contact us and we'll do everything we can to assist.

About S.P.I.K.E.™ Camps

(Success = Positive Imagery & Kinetic Energy)

We have great coaches who know how to teach and get results. We had 11 collegiate coaches at one of our camps!

I just wanted to say a great big THANK YOU to the entire staff. What a wonderful experience for my daughter. She has had nothing but positive things to say about the camp AND the people. She said that this was the best camp that she has ever attended and the coaching staff was wonderful! We will be back next year!  Kristina Nodtvedt, Iowa

“You asked if we’d let you know how the other camp compared to your S.P.I.K.E. Camp. There really is no comparison! Although Lexi said that she had a lot of fun at the other camp, she really didn’t learn much and hardly broke a sweat the entire week. She said that she would not want to do that camp again and that she learned sooooo much more at Spike Camp with you and your staff. She made the comment that she learned more in the week at SPIKE Camp than she did during her whole season with her school team. We will definitely be back this summer and we want you to know how much she loves your Spike Camps!”  Deanne Grafe, Minnesota

Yes, it's pretty exciting making All-State! We had a great season...we finished the regular season with 25-2. I made all state, an all-star team, and all-conference. I am so glad I went to your camp! Your camp made me a whole different player. I recommend your camp to everyone I talk to. I would have to say that your camp is #1 in the state. I think that I might even come next summer to touch up on my skills before I play college volleyball.  Hannah Eilers, Minnesota

I have a 16 year and 14 year old that went to your summer camp and they learned so much it was incredible.  What impressed me is that when the girls returned to their school for open gym following the camp, the head coach commented to my daughters that they had made some great improvements. Joyce Kramer, Minnesota

Our coaches seamlessly incorporate the latest scientifically proven psychological training techniques, mental toughness and confidence, used by Olympic athletes to help you learn faster and learn more.

Dana (14 yrs) went to your camp and my other daughter, Robin (16 yrs) went to another elite camp this summer. Here are my comparisons and contrasts. Dana made tremendous improvement in her setting skills in just three short days. She had good technical skills, but the difference that you made in her game was more about attitude. After your camp she played like she owned the court. Dana learned far more about setting than Robin did at her camp. Dana learned a great deal at your camp and enjoyed it too; I think that I will send both girls to your camp next year. Linda Sifford, Minnesota

What a great Volleyball camp in Monticello! Our daughter learned so much from your intermediate coaches and we felt safe leaving her with the supervision and organization you provided. She is ready to start with fall practices with more confidence and a stronger desire to improve her abilities with a sport she loves. Thanks for the great planning and team effort to make it worth the investment! Emily is already talking about next year's camp! Allen & Melody Kadlec, Minnesota

Some courts will have state of the art video replay allowing campers watch what they did seconds earlier.  There will also be optional video review sessions in the evening.

…and you’ll have a lot of fun!

I want to thank each of you for a great camp! My daughter, Kylie, and her friend, Meghan, had a blast! They did have a little bit of difficulty walking the fourth day! Ha, ha. Thanks so much for the wonderful hospitality. I felt very comfortable with the staff and each of the coaches that I met. I felt that you truly cared about our daughters and were looking out for them during their stay. They both said that they felt that they had learned a lot, which is hard to get seventeen-year-olds to say! Thanks so much for the warm welcome and the wonderful experience!  Kim Easlon, Oklahoma footnote: the following season, Kylie made All-State and the All-Tournament team in the State Tournament and was offered a volleyball scholarship.

Just wanted to say that my daughter really, really enjoyed camp in Monticello. She said they learned so many good things to take back to school and JO volleyball!!! It was fun to see her so up and excited about volleyball! She is already looking forward to camp next year. Sonia Strickland, Minnesota

Thanks for a great camp. I feel like my game really improved. I learned so much and met many great people. Paige Alford, Oklahoma

We would like to thank you for the wonderful opportunity for CheyAnne to improve her skills, whether it was ball control, setting, or serving. She had the best time and while on vacation that is all she could talk about! You have made a lasting impression on her and she cannot wait to attend next year's camp! Letting them play with the advanced hitters was something that she really enjoyed! Kudo's to everyone involved with this year’s camp! It was an experience she will never forget!  Mike, Stacey, and CheyAnne Maxwell, Minnesota
