Lodging

Lodging in Rochester is at the newly remodeled La Quinta Inn.  Lodging in Monticello is at the Best Western Chelsea Inn & Suites, both popular team hotels for athletic events and past host for volleyball campers.  Both are very high quality hotels.  Both hotels have spacious pools..

Breakfast and dinner will be served at the hotel.  Breakfast and dinner will be in a private banquet room at the hotels which will also serve as the designated room for socializing.

Rooms at the hotels have two queen beds.  Campers have the option of double or quad occupancy.  Double occupancy is a higher tuition rate (see Tuition page).  Unlike many dorms, campers will appreciate the air-conditioning, private baths, and cable TV (although pay-per-view movies will be blocked).

Campers may use the hotel swimming pool during evening free time.  S.P.I.K.E.™ will provide a lifeguard during that time.

Lunch and mid-afternoon snack will be served at the training facilities.

Roommates

Specific roommate requests will be honored if pre-designated on the registration form.  Registration forms with matching roommate requests on each form along with deposits sent by mail should be sent in the same envelope.  If they arrive in separate envelopes, we will attempt to match up roommate requests, but there are no guarantees.  If no roommates are pre-designated, campers will be matched up close in age.  We will also attempt to assign rooms so campers are near other campers of similar age.

If one or more campers request a roommate who does not register or who cancels her registration, another camper may be assigned to the room based on the double/quad occupancy request on the registration of the campers and her age.

Roommate changes are not allowed during check-in or any other time during the camp as this would create a significant bookkeeping and security issue for us.

Supervision

Camp staff supervise campers at all times, act as evening chaperones, and perform room-checks for resident campers. Campers are not allowed to leave the camp for any reason without a parent or guardian, who also must complete a Camp Release Form and must accompany their athlete from the camp. Any resident or day campers driving themselves to camp must give their car keys to a designated camp staff member. Keys are returned to day campers after the last training session each day and keys are returned to resident campers on the last day of camp.

Lodging in Rochester is at the newly remodeled La Quinta Inn and in Monticello at the Best Western Chelsea Inn & Suites.  Both are very high quality, popular team hotels for athletic events. The hotels' staff routinely deals with athletic teams of all ages, has instituted hotel policies which facilitate supervision and security, and has previously hosted volleyball campers.  The hotel tries to block certain floors for each team/group and intermingle chaperones’ (coaches, in our case) rooms between rooms of campers.  Pay-per-view movies will be blocked.  If the hotel charges for outgoing, outside-the-hotel calls, even if local, they will be blocked.  Incoming, room-to-room, and 911 calls will NOT be blocked.

Swimming will be allowed only during designated free time.  We will provide a lifeguard during those times.  Optional evening video/discussion sessions and socializing will be in the hotels' banquet room, which will be reserved for our exclusive use.  Wandering around the hotels and loitering in the hallways is not tolerated for security reasons and because campers will need their sleep after a rigorous day.

Resident campers will be bussed to and from the training facilities and Hotel.

Travel Tips (see FAQ for additional travel tips)

Please contact us if you are flying in or coming from greater distances.  There are various options for transportation to and from the airport.  We will offer you our camp rate if you arrive the night before or stay the night after the camp.   If you have any questions about anything, please ask.  We want this to be the best camp you have ever been too!

Rochester

Airfares vary considerably these days. It may be much more economical to fly to the Twin Cities and take one of the multiple direct, roundtrip busses to Rochester from the Mpls/St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Mall of America.

Monticello

We are currently looking into transportation from the Twin Cities International Airport (MSP) and Monticello.  Monticello is about 5 minutes away from one of the Minnesota's largest outlet malls and one hour (during non-rush hour) to the Mall of America.

Mall Of America

New to the Mall of America is the countries largest indoor water park.
